NEW YORK (CBSLA.com) – Kobe Bryant debuted the Kobe 8 System Nike shoe Thursday night against the New York Knicks at his favorite arena to play in, Madison Square Garden.

The Black Mamba-inspired shoe will be one of NIKE’s lightest basketball shoes, weighing a low of 9.6 ounces.

Fans will have to wait until February 2, 2013 to purchase Kobe’s latest and greatest shoe, retailed at $170 at stores; but NikeiD is already taking orders of customized Kobe 8 System for a hefty price of $270.

Lakers lost to the New York Knicks, 116-107.
