VALENCIA(MaxPrep) – Ako Kaluna is a senior post at West Ranch (Valencia, Calif.), but has the look of a (veteran) Pac-12 Conference defensive lineman.
So it’s no surprise that he shattered a backboard during a tournament game in Santa Monica on Thursday.
Listed at 6-foot-8 and appearing to be in the 270-pound range, Kaluna also broke a rim during a game last season according to the Daily News.
“It was awesome,” Kaluna told the Daily News.
And by the way, Kaluna can flat out ball. He went on to post 23 points and 21 rebounds in a victory over defending Division III state champion Alemany (Mission Hills) on Thursday – a huge win for the Wildcats. The Northern Arizona signee is averaging 19.3 and 14.7 rebounds per game on the season.
