Woman Hurt, Baby Escapes Injury In Car-To-Car Shooting On 170 Freeway

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old woman was injured in a car-to-car shooting Friday night on the 170 Freeway near Sherman Way, the LAPD reported. Even though her baby was riding alongside her, the child escaped uninjured.

Two lanes of the northbound side of the freeway were closed until 9 p.m. as investigators surveyed the crime scene.

The victim was headed to her birthday party when she looked out the car window to see a man pointing a gun at her from a neighboring car.

The man shot into the vehicle several times, with one of the bullets grazing the victim's upper torso. She was taken to a hospital and her wound was listed as minor.

Her baby was uninjured even though investigators found bullet holes in the child's car seat.

Both were riding in the back seat of a Nissan Sentra, which showed at least six bullet holes along the driver's side.

Police say the shooter is still at large.

Investigators are trying to find a possible motive for the shooting.
