LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — La Casa Garcia Restaurant and We Give Thanks, Inc. provided 15,000 free Thanksgiving dinners to those in need in Orange County Thursday.
Over 1,500 volunteers participated in the 26th annual event, which was held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
We Give Thanks, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded by restauranteur and philanthropist Frank Garcia.
“It costs you $200-$300 to get this meal. This is free for everybody — I don’t care where you come from,” Garcia said.
The organization provided 5,000 pounds of potatoes, 3,000 pounds of carrots, more than 15,000 dinner rolls and a hundred gallons of gravy.
Many of the guests depend on Garcia’s generosity year after year.
“I just want to thank him for everything he’s done over the years. Without him, I don’t know where we’d be today,” guest Paul Miller said.
