MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A man remained behind bars on Saturday in connection with the strong arm robbery of a guest at a Motel 7 in Moreno Valley.

The incident at the motel in the 23500 block of Alessandro Boulevard occurred about 12:56 p.m. Thursday.

A news release issued by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department says the victim told arriving officers that the suspect initially knocked on the door and asked to use the phone.

"When the victim refused, the suspect pushed his way into the room and demanded money," the statement said.

The suspected robber, identified by authorities as 30-year-old Raymond Charles Atkins of Moreno Valley, then allegedly fled on foot with some cash and the victim's laptop.
