ALTADENA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities tracked down a suspected car thief who took off running from officers in Altadena.
Deputies were called at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of Mendocino Street, where they attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Pasadena.
Eddie Vasquez, 32, was driving a 2006 Toyota Camry with 22-year-old Nancy Carrillo, both Altadena residents, in the back seat of the car. He parked in a driveway on Mendocino, exited the car and took off running through yards, leaving Carrillo behind.
Deputies set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and used a helicopter crew and police dogs to locate Vasquez. They searched for two hours before finding the suspect hiding under a house.
Both Vasquez and Carrillo were taken into custody.
