LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A CHP motorcycle officer was injured Thursday afternoon in a hit-and-run crash in Long Beach.
A suspect was apprehended after a ground and air search.
The accident occurred at about 1:40 p.m. while the officer was chasing a suspect, according to authorities.
The collision occurred at the intersection and Crest Drive and Wardlow Road.
Reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, Cristy Fajardo said officials did everything they could to find the suspect.
Authorities said the chase began when the CHP officer tried to pull over a driver of a Saturn for failure to yield.
Law enforcement officials told Fajardo the Saturn driver took off and the officer pursued the suspect.
During the chase, the suspect hit a green car. In turn the officer was hit by a yellow Volkswagen.
The officer was alert and conscious when taken to the hospital, reported Fajardo.
The suspect in the Saturn fled on foot.
Occupants in the green car and yellow Volkswagen were not hurt.
