Police Investigate Possible Kidnapping In El Sereno

EL SERENO (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching for a possible kidnapping victim in El Sereno Monday night.

Dozens of officers and detectives are stationed at every street in the area after reports a young girl was dragged up a hillside near the El Sereno Recreation Center.

CBS2's Juan Fernandez said police are either investigating a kidnapping or an assault.

Authorities are unsure of the situation because they have not found a victim or a suspect.

During the initial search of the scene, officers said they found tennis shoes and leggings, but don't know if the items belong to the victim.

"We found some articles there. We want to search to make sure there are no victims. What was told to us was that a female, aged 13 to 15, was being dragged to the hilly areas by a male between 18 to 21 years of age," said Anita Ortega from the LAPD's Hollenbeck Division.

A man was arrested for possibly interfering with the investigation, according to Fernandez.
