LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The USS Iowa held its first-ever Veterans Day observance at its new home in the Port of Los Angeles.

And as CBS2’s Greg Mills reported Saturday, 26-year U.S. Army veteran Julie Delamora was among the throngs of attendees.

She brought her family to the ceremony to honor the men and women who have served the nation.

“They bring us safety for our community and our states,” Delamora’s daughter, Angie, said.

Mills reported that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s office planned the star-spangled veterans’ appreciation day.
