LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Snowboarders and skiers took to the slopes at Mountain High as a cold snap brought winter-like weather to the region.
KNX 1070’s Ed Mertz reports that the ski resort in Wrightwood opened for business Sunday.
Traditionally the first to open, Mountain High will be followed by Mount Baldy and Bear Mountain on Monday.
Meteorologist David Sweet with the National Weather Service says daytime temperatures at the mountain resorts will be in the 40s with overnight lows in the 20s.
“It’s going to remain fairly cool in the mountains all the way through Monday night,” he said.
Meantime, veterans with military identification or discharge papers will be able to ski-free Monday at Mountain High and Bear Mountain. Mount Baldy is expected to offer them discounts.
