ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Anaheim restaurant owner Frank Garcia is teaming up with thousands of volunteers to serve as many as 15,000 people at the 26th annual “We Give Thanks” Thanksgiving dinner.
Garcia, who has served more than 250,000 meals to those in need over the past quarter-century, is asking for the public’s help in getting an additional 600 turkeys for the event.
“One of the top sponsors dropped us this year about five days ago. We have seven days to have 600 turkeys. I know God will do it,” said Garcia.
Local hotels with huge commercial kitchens will help prepare thousands of turkeys for the Thanksgiving feast, which will be served outdoors in the parking lot of the Honda Center.
Hilton Anaheim, Marriott Anaheim, the Anaheim Ducks, the Honda Center, Jay’s, the Anaheim Convention Center, and Garcia’s restaurant, La Casa Garcia, are all sponsoring the event, which will take place on Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
