Neighbors said they heard several shots before a silver Mercedes sped off.
Shortly after that, Burbank authorities were contacted by airport police who said they had found a Hispanic man in his mid-twenties with a gunshot wound to the hand, officials said.
The victim told police he was shot while driving on the 5 Freeway, but police focused their investigation to the area of Landis and Morgan Avenue after finding debris and broken glass at that location.
"In our continued search of the area of 1800 Landis, we found evidence of a shooting, we found glass that appears to be from a vehicle window," Burbank Police Lt. Eric Arorian said.
The man was transported to Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.
