OC Woman Dead, Man Critically Hurt In Suspected Murder-Suicide

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Officials say they found a 57-year-old man critically injured and a woman dead inside his Orange County apartment in a suspected murder-suicide.

Police received call at 9:45 a.m. from the man's relatives saying he had contacted them and threatened suicide.

Officers arrived at a large apartment complex, located at 15555 Huntington Village Lane, north of the Bella Terra shopping center. They entered apartment #242 to find Nelson Tuiolosega suffering from self-inflicted wounds and a woman dead inside, according to Huntington Beach police.

"The cops were here. I had no idea what was going on. This is a quiet neighborhood. We never have anything go on. And, for me to hear someone just down the way was murdered…it's crazy. It's out of this world," resident Vance Longarini said.

Tuiolosega was rushed to a hospital, where he underwent four hours of surgery and survived, police said.

"The family was concerned because the male suspect called them. As far as the female, or the other subject in the house, what transpired inside before…we don't know," Lt. Mitch O'Brien said. "It's my understanding that the male subject was severely injured…and I don't know what if anything was said between the officers and him, but enough evidence in the residence indicates he's a suspect in a homicide. We're not looking for other suspects right now."

Police would not say how the incident occurred, but confirmed that it was not a shooting.

The woman's identity has not yet been released. Officials have not yet revealed the connection between Tuiolosega and the female victim.
