LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Even though Hurricane Sandy has been downgraded to a tropical storm, travelers headed into and out of Los Angeles International Airport from the East Coast are still out of luck.
Ten airlines have canceled flights at LAX, including 99 arrivals and 101 departures, primarily at airports in Philadelphia, New York, Boston and Washington D.C.
KNX 1070′s Claudia Peschiutta reports airlines initially canceled 129 flights for Monday and Tuesday to and from the East Coast.
LAX officials recommended that travelers check with their airlines for further flight instructions.
Some travelers stranded at LAX are taking advantage of Southern California’s sunny, dry weather by going to the beach or making the trek out to Disneyland.
There have been more than 14,000 canceled flights nationwide due to the hurricane.
LAX is accommodating requests from airlines to park their planes in Los Angeles until weather conditions improve.
