Busy OC Freeway To Close For 'Hangover 3' Filming

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — Caltrans plans to close busy sections of an Orange County freeway this weekend – all to accommodate the filming of "Hangover 3."

KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports the southbound 73 Freeway in Corona del Mar will be shut down from the 405 south to the 55 Freeway from 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

On Sunday, the southbound side of the freeway will be closed from the 55 Freeway interchange to Jamboree Road from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Northbound lanes of the 73 Freeway will be closed from Jamboree Road to Campus Drive from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Jim Righeimer, the mayor pro tem of Costa Mesa, doesn't approve of the planned closure.

"I just think it's outrageous," he said. "They're going to disrupt traffic on the 73 so that they can film a movie, which the citizens of Costa Mesa get nothing out of."

Righeimer said he would be more inclined to approve the freeway shut downs if the city got something in return. A Bradley Cooper sighting, perhaps?

"They should throw us a bone or something," Righeimer said. "Have the actors show up somewhere or something."
