Man Dead, Teen Girl Injured In San Bernardino Hit-And-Run Accident

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a 28-year-old man and injured a teenage girl in San Bernardino.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of West Highland Avenue and North California Street, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officials say Armulfo Antonio and an unidentified 16-year-old girl, both of San Bernardino, were crossing the street when they were hit by a westbound, dark-colored sedan that fled the scene.

"A vehicle came through the intersection and unfortunately struck them outside the cross walk," Sgt. Joe Ramos said.

Antonio was hit head on by the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

The girl, who may have been drinking, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, the CHP said.

A driver's side mirror fell off during the collision and authorities are trying to match it to a specific make and model.

Investigators say the driver did not appear to be speeding at the time of the accident.

Officials are looking for a dark colored sedan with heavy front end damage that is also missing a driver's side mirror. Anyone with information should call the California Highway Patrol.
