Police: Ohio Man, 43, Sexually Assaulted 15-Year-Old Girl He Met On Facebook

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — A man from Ohio is behind bars in Lancaster for allegedly being involved with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl he met on Facebook.

The girl's family reported her missing Sunday.

Detectives then learned she made plans to meet 43-year-old Michael Scheetz, who she had been having a relationship with via Facebook. They suspected the sole purpose behind Scheetz's trip was to have sex with the girl.

Investigators spotted Scheetz driving in Lancaster Monday and questioned him. He led investigators to the girl in a desert field east of 15th Street West.

She was checked out and listed in good condition.

The suspect's bail was set at $1.27 million.
