VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — A pursuit suspect led authorities on a chase on the southbound 101 Freeway Friday morning.
The pursuit began around 8 a.m. near Faria Beach in Ventura after a dark-colored, older model Mercedes was seen driving at a high rate of speed, the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP attempted to pull the suspect over, however they failed to yield and a pursuit ensued down the Ventura Freeway into the San Fernando Valley and beyond.
The male suspect, who had a female passenger in the vehicle, was seen driving aggressively at some points and weaving in and out of traffic as CHP officers tailed closely behind.
The suspect pulled over onto the shoulder of the freeway at 8:55 a.m., just before the Sunset Boulevard exit in Hollywood.
The female passenger exited the vehicle first, then the suspect. Both individuals were arrested. Their identities have not been released.
All traffic on the southbound 101 was stopped as the suspects were taken into custody.
The Mercedes was not stolen, CHP officials said.
