OC All-Stars To Participate In Football Fundraiser For Fellow Deputy

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Female members of the Orange County Sheriff's Department will take to the football field this weekend to help a fellow deputy.

Michele Gile, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, says the inaugural flag football game will take place Saturday at Eddie West Field in Santa Ana.

Gile reports that the OC All-Stars was formed ten short weeks ago for one purpose – to raise money for the son of Deputy Rob Pequeno, who was seriously hurt in an accident and requires round-
the-clock care.

The proceeds from the fundraiser football match-up against female officers from Long Beach and Santa Ana will help pay for nurses.

"We're having fun. We want to be competitive but we're doing it for the Pequeno family," said Sgt. Andre Spencer.

Spencer stepped in last month as head coach of the team after hearing about the game.

"All my life I've been a giver and now I'm a receiver. It's difficult. I love that they did this for us and you know, with what we've got, our bills mounting, it just helps us out so much," Pequeno told Gile.
