FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — A third police officer has been charged Thursday in connection with the beating death of a schizophrenic transient last year.

Fullerton Police Officer Joe Wolfe was indicted on one felony count of involuntary manslaughter and excessive force.

Kelly Thomas, 37, died following a violent confrontation with six police officers who responded to the Fullerton Transportation Center on July 5, 2011 on reports of car burglaries.

Wolfe was terminated in May 2012.
