EL SEGUNDO (CBSla.com) – Dwight Howard worked out Wednesday on the court at the Lakers training facility in El Segundo for the first time since his season-ending surgery in April.
As a lot of the newcomers worked on the main court, Howard worked on the side to work on his free throw shooting and his post-game moves with Lakers assistant coach Darvin Brown and Chuck Person
Howard has been working out with Lakers staff, but this is the first glimpse we see Howard workout in Lakers gear since he had his herniated disk repaired and disk fragments removed.
The workout seemed light, but did look very exhausted after the workout.
This is great, great news for the Lakers as training camp begins in 6 days, on October 2nd.
“The team continues to stress that no timetable has been determined for Howard’s return, but allowed that there have been no set backs to this point in his rehabilitation,” wrote Mike Trudell on Lakers.com
Coach Brown hasn’t ruled out Howard for missing the Lakers’ season opener against the Dallas Mavericks on October 30th. He did, however, rule him out for the preseason opener on October 7th.
