MURRIETA (CBS) — A 69-year-old Murrieta woman was fatally injured Friday in a hit-and-run.
The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was reportedly out for her morning walk.
She was hit sometime between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Brookridge Lane and Washington Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Family members went in search for the woman after she failed to return home, said CHP Officer Nathan Baer.
He said she was spotted lying on the side of Brookridge.
“Evidence revealed that this may have been a hit-and-run traffic collision,” Baer said. “Injuries to the woman were consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle.”
The victim was rushed to Loma Linda Hospital in Murrieta.
The CHP asked anyone who may have information to contact the agency’s Temecula office at (951) 506-2000.
