EL SEGUNDO(CBSLA.com) Training camp is still two weeks away, but the Los Angeles Lakers held an informal workout Tuesday in El Segundo for their newcomers.

Derek Fisher, who is a free agent, was also in hand along with 1st-year Laker Steve Nash for the pre-training workouts.

Fisher was traded to the Houston Rockets last season, but then was released a few days later and picked up by the Oklahoma City  Thunder off waivers.

“It’s great to be able to come here a couple of weeks before training camps, and then have training camp,” said veteran Antawn Jamison. “As a veteran you hate the eight preseason games, but this is a situation where it goes to your favor.”

Dwight Howard(back) did not participate in any workouts and is expected to miss the preseason opener.
