BUENA PARK (CBSLA.com) — An unidentified good Samaritan is being called a hero after saving an elderly woman from her burning home in Buena Park.
A woman in her 80s was saved from her burning home Sunday afternoon in the 8000 block of Ridglea Avenue in Buena Park, fire officials said, by a stranger who pulled over in his SUV with two women inside, according to the Orange County Register. Neighbors told fire officials that they didn’t get the man’s name, nor did they recognize him.
Neighbors were gathering outside the home, discussing what to do, when the man pulled up. The good Samaritan and a neighbor both decided to try to get inside – the neighbor through the front door, the stranger through a side door, according to the newspaper.
The good Samaritan was able to find the woman, who lives alone, in her bedroom. When firefighters arrived, the woman was sitting in a chair on her front lawn, surrounded by neighbors, the Register reported.
“It was very, very fortunate. Sadly, she has dementia and cannot tell us what happened,” Orange County Fire Authority Battalion Chief Jose Valbuena told the newspaper.
The good Samaritan drove away after saving the woman and did not leave his name.
