Dwight Howard To Miss Lakers' Preseason Opener, No Timetable On His Return

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) If you bought Lakers pre-season tickets, hoping to get a cheaper up-close and personal look at Dwight Howard, don't hold your breath any longer.

Howard will miss the Lakers' preseason opener on October 7th against the Golden Stat Warriors in Fresno, according to team's website.

The new Lakers center, who had back surgery in April, will not participate in any activities at the start of training camp in October.

Howard has started working out with the Lakers' head trainer Gary Vitti, who's been with the Lakers for 27 years, and his personal trainer, Bryan Meyer.

"Howard has begun working with Vitti's staff while continuing to work alongside his personal trainer, Bryan Meyer," said on an injury update on Lakers.com "Howard's rehabilitation has been going well, according to Lakers officials, and there have been no setbacks up to this point."

The Lakers also said that there is no timetable on his return.
