PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) —  Police are looking for a Good Samaritan who helped a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly nearly raped in Palmdale.

The crime happened around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on the 38000 block of Sierra Highway.

The teenager was walking home from school when she was confronted by the suspect, Marlon Crowell, who started to ask her inappropriate questions.

As the victim tried to get away, the 33-year-old grabbed her and began to tear at her shirt, according to Sgt. Dan Scott from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim managed to run away to a nearby parking lot where a Good Samaritan drove her home.

Crowell was arrested after the victim’s mother saw the suspect and told authorities.

He was booked on felony charges of attempted rape and assault with intent to commit rape.

His bail is set for $100,000.

Police are encouraging the Good Samaritan who may have witnessed the assault to contact the Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-5273.
