RIVERSIDE (AP) — A man suspected of stabbing to death his ex-girlfriend and their two children in a Riverside home was a jilted suitor who threatened them days before the killings.

Neighbors tell the Los Angeles Times that Laura Reveriano rejected a marriage proposal from Selvin Rodriguez on Aug. 25.

In court papers, Reveriano says her ex-boyfriend began threatening to kill her and the children and broke a window in her house. She obtained a temporary restraining order on Aug. 28.

Two days later, Reveriano, her 4-year-old son and 19-month-old daughter were found stabbed to death.

Rodriguez was later found covered in blood, carrying a knife and walking along a freeway. He was shot by a Corona police officer and remains hospitalized.
