SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Crews are responding to a brush fire burning close to some homes in Simi Valley.

The blaze ignited Thursday evening along Kuehner Drive, north of the 118 Freeway, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

SKY2′s Stu Mundel reported that water-dropping helicopters were aiding the firefighters.

Crews said they were gaining the upper hand on the fire, shortly after 6 p.m.
