LOS ANGELES (AP) — All-Star Blake Griffin says his left knee is healed after last month’s surgery that forced him to miss the London Olympics, when he worked on his shot and free throws while his U.S. teammates were winning a gold medal.

Griffin said Tuesday that he used the down time to work on becoming a more complete player and that he’s ready to play now. The Los Angeles Clippers open training camp on Oct. 1.

Griffin says he spoke to gold medal-winning teammate Chris Paul, who plans to return to Los Angeles next Monday to recuperate from the surgery he had last week to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. Griffin says they discussed the team’s new additions, including Jamal Crawford, Grant Hill and Ronny Turiaf.
