Man, 22, Shot To Death In Possible Gang-Related Attack

SOUTH GATE (CBS) —  A 22-year-old man was shot to death Saturday in South Gate.

Authorities believe the murder was gang-related.

The homicide in the 6100 block of Nevada Avenue was reported at 12:40 a.m., Deputy Peter Gomez of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said.

The victim was standing outside a location where a party was being held, Deputy Kim Manatt said.

"Three male Hispanics approached the victim on foot and an argument ensued," Manatt said in a statement. "One or more of the suspects began firing at the victim."

Manatt said the suspects fled the scene as the victim collapsed.

The man, who has not yet been identified, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Manatt said.

Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the shooting death to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
