LOS ANGELES (CBS)The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated right-handed pitcher Rubby De La Rosa and optioned right-handed pitcher Javy Guerra to Triple-A Albuquerque.
De La Rosa, 23, ended his rookie season early as he suffered a tear of the ulnar collateral ligament while pitching against Arizona’s Miguel Montero on July 31st
De La Rosa, the Dodgers’ 2010 Branch Rickey Minor League Pitcher of the Year, underwent Tommy John surgery on August 9, 2011.
De La Rosa pitched 12 scoreless innings with stints in Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Arizona League Dodgers.
In 13 appearances (10 starts) with the Dodgers in 2011, the native of the Dominican Republic was 4-5 with a 3.71 ERA. De La Rosa will wear uniform number 41.
The Dodgers will give him innings from the bull-pen before he’ll get a start.
