WINCHESTER (CBSLA.com) — Crews have fully contained a brush fire that scorched 500 acres in Winchester and left a firefighter with minor injuries, authorities reported.

The blaze was reported around noon at Vista and Rawson roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

A firefighter was reportedly hurt, though the nature of his injuries were not specified.

More than 200 firefighters worked Monday to encircle the wildfire, and fully contained the blaze by 8 p.m.

Crews were going to continue fighting the brush fire throughout the night, fire officials reported.

There was no immediate word on what sparked the blaze.
