Pasadena Restaurants Will Hold A Toast To Honor Julia Child's100th Birthday

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A few restaurants throughout Pasadena will hold a simultaneous toast at 7 p.m. Wednesday in honor of Julia Child's 100th birthday.

The gourmet chef was born August 15, 1912 in Pasadena.

She is recognized as one of the first culinary celebrities after being involved with one of the first television cooking shows.

Child is well-known for writing many popular cookbooks, particularly "Mastering the Art of French Cooking".

She died two days short of turning 92 in August 2004.

More than 20 restaurants will offer specialty items on their menus that are based on Child's well-known recipes.
