LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The framework of a proposed four-team trade that would send Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers is in the works Thursday night.
CBS2/KCAL9 Sports Director Jim Hill confirms that part of the proposed deal would involve Andrew Bynum going to the Philadelphia 76ers, while the Lakers get Howard.
KCAL9’s Suraya Fadel talked to Lakers fans outside the Staples Center where the reaction consisted of screams and high-fives.
One fan said he believes it will be like Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant in their prime.
“OMG. Y’all better watch out,” said one fan.
“We’ve been waiting for him to come for a while now. Dwight Howard! FINALLY!” said a woman.
“I’m so excited. We’re going to get a championship. Nash, Dwight, Gasol,” a young fan said.
“You’ve got the best center in the game and you’ve got Kobe Bryant. You’re looking at a potential dynasty down here. Just like competing in the east with the Heat. To get him…amazing,” said a fan.
However, the deal won’t be officially finalized until all general managers from the proposed trade hold a conference call scheduled for Friday morning. That must be followed by league approval.
