Dozens Arrested, Guns Seized In 'Operation Halo' Anti-Gang Effort

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A multi-agency, anti-gang effort has resulted in dozens of arrests in Orange County.

Operation Halo, a year-long investigation targeting career criminals and street gang members, has led to the arrest of 15 people on federal charges and an additional 29 on state charges, according to Christian Hoffman of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Most of those arrested are documented gang members.

In addition to the arrests, authorities seized about 40 firearms, including sawed-off shotguns and assault-type weapons. One of the recovered weapons, a pistol, was purchased "in an undercover capacity" is believed to have been used in a homicide in Anaheim, an official said.

Roughly 11 pounds of crystal methamphetamine was also recovered.

Personnel from the ATF, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the United States Attorney's Office, the Orange County District Attorney's Office, the Orange County Sheriff's Department and officers from Anaheim, Buena Park, Garden Grove, Orange, Fullerton, Irvine and Seal Beach police departments participated in Operation Halo.
