LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) Ned Colletti and the Los Angeles Dodgers keep going at it as they claim Joe Blanton off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies.
Blanton, 31, is owed $8.5 million for the rest of the season and will be eligible for free agency in the winter.
The right-handed pitcher has a record of 8-9 and an ERA of 4.59 with 115 K’s.
Dodgers will send cash or an unknown player for compensation.
Blanton was originally drafted by Oakland in the first round (24th overall) of the 2002 First-Year Draft after attending the University of Kentucky, where he led the SEC with 133 strikeouts in 2002. He and his wife, LeeAndra, live with their two daughters in Nashville.
Dodgers have confirmed the acquisition.
