LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A female pedestrian was struck and killed Saturday evening in Westmont, the California Highway Patrol said.

The accident occurred on Western Avenue, south of 108th Street, according to a CHP statement.

The accident was reported at 9:15 p.m.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Los Angeles County Firefighters were called, but did not transport the female victim, said dispatch supervisor Michael Pittman.
