'The Producers' Playing At Hollywood Bowl

LOS ANGELES (CBS) —"The Producers",  Mel Brooks' legendary wild musical, is playing at the Hollywood Bowl for three brief nights, starting Friday.

The cast started rehearsing a couple of weeks ago.

For several stars, including Rebecca Romijn, this is their first time doing live theater.

"(I haven't done it) since high school and college. I'm in this phase where I think it's important to push myself outside my comfort zone for my children's sake. They need to watch their mommy doing things that are scary because that's part of life," said the actress playing Ulla.

Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson is excited to be involved in the performance.

"Being in the middle of 10 chorus girls…they're doing real dancing, I'm doing faux dancing," he said.

Veteran actor Richard Kind plays Max Bialystock.

"When else am I going to say I did the Hollywood Bowl? Unless I do 'My Fair Lady' and play Eliza," joked Kind.

Comedian Dane Cook rounds out the cast, playing Franz Liebkind.

"He's your typical singing and dancing Nazi. He's best known for his wild duel persona," he said.
