LAKE FOREST (CBS) —Residents in an Orange County neighborhood are gearing up for a mega garage sale Saturday.

Every year, the Sunwood Tract along El Toro Road and Serrano Road draws thousands of bargain hunters to the more than 237 home neighborhood in Lake Forest.

About 200 homes are expected to participate in the event.

Residents say shoppers usually line up just before dawn and even check for things on Friday night.

Bill Sawyer has been involved in the event for 32 years.

“A realtor started this 34 years ago,” he said. ”Brenda Flick was her name. Just to meet people in the neighborhood. And she has done a good job.”

Resident Aurora Sawyer said she has a lot of stuff she doesn’t need.

“I go through closets and bring out stuff I don’t need. And what I don’t sell I give to Goodwill,” she said.

Resident Randy Gant said every year the event gets bigger.

“You get to meet the new neighbors who have moved in since the other ones have left. It’s really nice for the neighborhood,” he said.

The sale is Saturday at 7 a.m.

You’re encouraged to park outside of Sunwood and walk to the neighborhood because of limited parking.
