Transient Suffers Gunshot Wound To Buttocks At Plummer Park; Gunman At Large

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Authorities Monday were searching for a gunman who opened fire on three transients — wounding one in the buttocks — at West Hollywood's Plummer Park.

Deputies on patrol heard shots in the park at Plummer Place and Santa Monica Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Dave Valentine said.

The shooting victims ran toward the deputies, Valentine said. A 26-year-old man was wounded by a bullet that entered his buttocks and lodged itself in his abdomen.

The victim, who told deputies he didn't know his attacker, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for surgery and was expected to survive, Valentine said.

The suspect was described as a white man, wearing a black shirt and black beanie hat. Deputies say he fled on foot.
