Report: Katherine Jackson Is Safe With Family

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Family members say Katherine Jackson is not missing, but resting with one of her daughters on doctor's orders.

The matriarch's nephew filed a missing persons report Saturday at the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station in Agoura Hills because the pop star's three children hadn't been able to get in touch with their 82-year-old grandmother for almost a week.

Paris Jackson, Michael's 14-year-old daughter, posted on Twitter Sunday that her grandmother was missing.

She said, "yes, my grandmother is missing. i haven't spoken with her in a week i want her home now."

However, hours later The Insider's Kevin Frazier tweeted: "#Paris Jackson danced the night away at her Uncle's concert in LA. Family sources I talked w said Mrs Jackson was just fine and never missing."

Katherine's attorney, Sandy Ribera, told CBS2 in an email over the weekend that the elder Jackson was supposed to go to New Mexico last weekend in an RV to watch her sons perform on their Unity Tour. However, a man who claimed to be sent by her doctor came to her Calabasas home and convinced her to fly.

Ribera claims Katherine's longtime physician didn't send the man, and the doctor Katherine did see has ties to Conrad Murray, the man convicted in connection to the death of Michael Jackson.

Paris reaffirmed that via Twitter early Sunday.

She said, "the same doctor that testified on behalf of dr murray saying my father was a drug addict (a lie) is caring for my grandmother... just saying."

Ribera said Katherine's family wants to know where she is staying.

"Concerned family members, particularly Michael's children, have made ongoing pleas to those believed to have knowledge of her location for information regarding her whereabouts. The only reports provided have been both conflicting and confusing," she said.

However, Jermaine Jackson tweeted that his mother is doing okay.

"I want to reassure everyone (inc all sudden medical experts) that Mother is fine but is resting up in AZ on the orders of a doctor, not us," he said.

Sheriff's officials in Los Angeles also believe Katherine is safe and with family in Arizona, but CBS2 could not immediately confirm reports that she has spoken with authorities.

Katherine has been at the center of a messy dispute between some of her children and advisers over money and legal matters.

Jermaine also released a statement Sunday to clear up the confusion. He called reports of his mother missing "nonsense."

He wrote, "...as I made clear some days ago, Mother is safe and well in Arizona with her daughter and our sister, Rebbie, resting up on doctor's advice, so it is beyond me how she can be reported 'missing.' This incredulous claim was made for reasons best known to the adult/s who filed it but it seems no accident that it comes after we, the sons and daughters, put in place care-taking for our own mother, taking her to Arizona in line with doctor's advice following a check-up."

"Furthermore," he added, "it dismays me that such an alarmist 'missing person' report has caused unnecessary anxiety among Michael's children who will understandably react to what they misunderstand, hear or are told."

He thanked the public for "your thoughts and concerns."
