Anthony Serrano, 45, coaches youths at Santa Ana Boxing at 901 E. Fourth St. He was arrested Sunday night after one of the alleged victim's mother called police to report abuse her son says he suffered.

"I want to see what's going to happen with this case," said Joshua Diaz, Serrano's former roommate. "I want to know everything that's going on, he's a father for me.

"I've known him for 10 years, he said. "It hurts seeing him in that jumpsuit."

Diaz came to court with dozens of letters written by former and current boxing students in hopes of giving them to the judge.

Serrano's bail is set at $200,000 and his arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 3.
