Payne, 46, is accused of punching one man in the face and hitting another man in the shoulder with a golf club around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.

"It was a dispute over golf protocol, the suspect accused the victims of moving his golf ball on the 18th hole," said Amormino.

There was also at least one report of a man atop of golf cart swinging his golf club at another golfer.

Panye's own accusations that the victims moved the ball is also under investigation, Amormino said.

Payne was led off the course in handcuffs and booked on suspicion of assault and battery.
