Mexico’s Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez To Fight Riverside’s Lopez At MGM On Sept. 15th

LOS ANGELES (CBS ) – According to variety of reports from Mexico and the US, WBC silver welterweight champion Josesito Lopez will challenge Mexican sensation Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for the junior middleweight title.

Victor Ortiz was the scheduled opponent for Alvarez, but after the major upset over Ortiz on June 23, Golden Boy promotions will grant the fight of Canelo-Josesito on Mexican Independance on September 15 at the MGM Grand.

Golden Boy promotions rival Top Rank will also hold a title fight on the same day, but down the street from MGM, at Thomas & Mack center at UNLV between the other Mexican star Julio Caesar Chavez Jr. and Sergio Ramos.

Alvarez-Lopez bout is still TBA on what network will broadcast the fight, but Chavez Jr.-Ramos will be on HBO Pay-Per-View.
