Man Arrested In Connection With Burglary In Riverside County

RIVERSIDE (CBS) — Deputies say they have arrested a man in connection with a burglary that occurred about a week ago at a home in Riverside County.

The incident on June 30, occurred about 11:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Center Avenue in Highgrove.

Sheriff's Sgt. Samuel Flores said in a statement that on that day, a woman had called deputies to report that her front door had been kicked in by a man who was demanding money and making threats.

According to the sergeant, the suspect was able to flee before the deputies arrived. It was unclear whether he took any money.

On Thursday, 27-year-old Michael Stuart Nyx was detained and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside for suspicion of burglary and other charges.

At the time of his arrest, deputies say he was in possession of an AK-47 assault rifle.

Jail records showed that Nyx was released Saturday after posting bail in the amount of $35,000.
