HEMET (CBS) — Two people were killed and four injured, two critically, in a fiery three-vehicle collision near Hemet, authorities said Wednesday.
The crash was reported at 11:17 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Warren and Simpson roads and south of Poplar Street, said an Indio-based California Highway Patrol dispatcher.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and four were taken to the hospital for treatment, said Melody Hendrickson of the county fire department.
County Fire responded to the scene along with the CHP and American Medical Response.
The coroner identified 22-year-old Deven Dolezal, a driver of one of the vehicles, as one of the deceased. The other person who died, a woman, was not identified.
Two of the victims suffered minor injuries, Hendrickson said.
One of the cars caught fire as a result of the collision, she said.
