Happy Father’s Day! Kanye Gives Jay-Z $34,000 Golden Skull

HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — What do you get for the multimillionaire rap mogul who has his own record label and partial ownership of an NBA team?

If you’re eccentrically hip hip-hopper Kanye West, the answer is easy: a $34,000 skull covered in 24-karat gold and red topaz gemstones.

Sources told CBS’ “The Insider” that West gave the skull to fellow hitmaker Jay-Z, who just celebrated his first Father’s Day after the birth of his daughter Blue Ivy with wife Beyonce Knowles.

The hand-finished gift from Lions & Sons features 1,680 star-cut red topaz gemstones lining the made-to-scale skull perched atop a curved spine that sits mounted on a black steel base — a stark contrast to the traditional necktie or gold watch that most dads receive.

But West apparently didn’t feel safe sending the gift through the Post Office: he hired a courier to escort the 18-inch-tall skull on a private jet for a hand-delivery to Jay.
