2 Dead, 1 Injured In Possible Botched Robbery At Westchester Apartment

WESTCHESTER (CBS) — Police continued their investigation Friday into a shooting that left two people dead in a potential botched robbery at a gated apartment complex in Westchester.

The shooting happened around 6 p.m. Thursday at the Alessio Apartment Homes in the 5700 block of Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles police said.

Officials believe the incident began inside a second-floor apartment where dozens of rounds were fired by four different guns.

"We do believe a burglary or robbery did occur here before the shooting and then there was an exchange of rounds," Lt. John Radke said.

Three people were shot and one died on the scene.

Paramedics transported two victims to a local hospital, where one later passed away, police said. The third person suffered minor injuries, was arrested and is currently in police custody.

The shooting victims were between 20 and 30 years old, according to officials.

Police are looking for a fourth person, who may also be injured and fled the scene in a white SUV.

"We do have concerns that we have one more person that hasn't been account for. We believe the person in probably injured," Radke said.

The unknown person is described as a black man in his 20s and was wearing brown pants and shirt. Authorities believe he lived in the apartment and may have been a victim of the robbery.

Three handguns have been recovered, police said.
