LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing foreign exchange student.

Ryu Asaoka, of Japan, was last seen on June 14 around 7:15 p.m. in the area of Olympic and Rimpau boulevards, near the Los Angeles High School campus.

The 23-year-old has no family in the Los Angeles-area and those who knew him say his disappearance is out of character.

He has black hair, brown eyes, is 5 feet 6 inches tall with a small build.

Police say Asaoka may be in Orange or Los Angeles county cities with large Japanese populations.
