AVID Teacher, Golf Coach At Moreno Valley High Accused Of Sexual Relationship With Student

MORENO VALLEY (CBS) — A teacher and golf coach at Moreno Valley High has been arrested for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student, according to police.

David Brohamer was arrested on May 31. He was charged with unlawful sex with a minor and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.

Brohamer has taught at Moreno Valley High since 2006. He was the boy's and girl's golf coach and instructed in the AVID editing program.

He is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student who was 17 at the time the relationship began.

The relationship reportedly lasted several months.

Police said a student reported the relationship to a school resource officer on May 12, 2012.

During the course of an investigation, detectives spoke to a former student and decided the student was a potential victim of sexual assault.

Investigators are asking current or former students who might have knowledge of this relationship, or others, to contact Investigator Adams or Investigator Holland from the Moreno Valley Police Detective Bureau at (951) 247-8700.
